Robert McConnell Loose Pipe Tobacco

C.E. McConnell Ltd. was a small but renowned tobacco manufacturer based in London. Founded in 1848, it was originally selected to produce Ashton’s line of tobaccos. Throughout the years they made blends for various brands including Dunhill, Ser Jacopo, and Elephant and Castle. When McConnell closed in 1989 the brand was continued on by McClelland and is now part of the Kohlhase and Kopp company.

Robert McConnell Glen Piper Loose Pipe Tobacco

Built on a base of Virginias with some Black Cavendish and a touch of Perique. The tobaccos are blended and hot pressed, part way through the process a little natural fruit extract is added. The resulting broken flake has plenty of body and smokes smoothly. The Perique adds a little spice, its figgy nature enhanced by the fruit topping. A great introduction tobacco for those wanting to move from Aromatics to more traditional blends, or a change of pace for Virginia and/or Perique smokers. Robert McConnell Original Maduro Loose Pipe Tobacco

A Black Cavendish made from various Burley and Virginia tobaccos is rounded off with a whiff of perique. Blended and pressed in steam ovens to produce this unique dark mature tobacco, surprisingly mild and very slow burning. Produced for the first time in early 1848, it is one of Robert McConnell's earliest mixtures.
