In the Vuelta Abajo region, it is tradition for the Vegueros (farmers) to make their own cigars. Before the brand was commercialised, visitors to the Pinar del Rio province often wanted to try the cigars that were grown, harvested and rolled in the best place in the world for tobacco cultivation.
As a result of the interest, the Cuban tobacco Bureau (Habanos S.A) decided to commercialise the farmer’s cigars, calling them Vegueros. The cigars were introduced to the market as a tribute to the countless generations that have cultivated tobacco in Pinar del Rio. The blend reflects the taste of the local with an earthiness and hints of pepper with a special intensity.
