Description
Punch Short de Punch Cigar Single
Punch Short de Punch Cigar. The first new addition to the brand’s standard portfolio for over 20 years and a fine example of the modern Havana cigar. It displays the well-balanced and uncomplicated refinement that has made Punch such a popular brand in the UK for over 150 years.
This 50-ring-gauge cigar is a short but fat smoke. It is a size called Paraso in Cuban cigar factories, and it falls between the petit robusto and the traditional robusto size in terms of length. You won’t find another cigar in the regular Habanos portfolio with quite the same dimensions.
- Size : Paraso (4 3/4″ x 50)
- Strength : Medium
- Wrapper : Corojo
- Origin : Cuba
Typically, you can expect a medium strength and flavour with one of these cigars, with a blend of traditional British flavours such as oak and a natural earthiness. Vitolas by Punch are certainly not for everyone but an aficionado would be foolish not to give the brand a try.
The brand of Punch Cigars was first registered in 1840 by a German named Stockmann, with its name deriving from one of the main characters from the popular European puppet show Punch and Judy. Success quickly came to the cigar brand, especially with customers in Great Britain.
The brand changed hands many times, and to this day Punch boxes and bands still bear the name of Manuel López Fernández, who owned the business for 40 years (1884-1924). The Punch brand continues to thrive in the Cuban cigar market, with lines such as Double Corona being especially sought after by collectors. The current owners, Villazon & Co., also make Hoyo de Monterrey as well as Belinda (with Honduran tobacco for the American market).
