Description
Gawith Hoggarth Grasmere Flake Loose Pipe tobacco
One of the more delicate Lakeland blends. A beautiful blend of Virginias and Burley, which on its own would be stunning and sitting between Best Brown and Brown flakes in regard to strength. The Burley not only gives some strength (medium) and keeps the smoke cool, it also absorbs the toppings. This is where the magic of Grasmere happens.
While not being as heavily scented as Ennerdale or Conniston, the use of Rose Geranium makes for a heavenly aroma. The use of natural extracts and a little added sugar creates a very clean taste and burn. The strong taste of Rose is very similar to that of Turkish delight, but distinctly different compared to Brown Flake Aromatic. A little stronger and with a more floral feel.
Unlike many other Lakelands, Grasmere flake never gets too soapy and that is thanks to the controlled use of the toppings. To really appreciate the delicate nature of this one, best smoked in a dedicated pipe.
A good replacement for the now discontinued Ogdens C G Flake.
